Spring training ball is not about win loss, it is about how the players perform. How players have come back from injury and how the young guys are looking.
Here are some notes on some of the guys with question marks:
Aroldis Chapman has gone gone 4 innings with 5 Ks, 1 BB and 2 hits. Two of those innings were perfect against the Giants. That is strong for Chapman. It will be interesting to see what path the Reds take with him to start this season.
Scott Rolen is currently 5 for 9 plate appearances. (.556) His shoulder must be doing well which is a great sign for Reds fans. A healthy Rolen is a great thing for the Reds.
Also, on the Brandon Phillips front, reports say his agents will be in Goodyear this week and Jocketty plans to meet with them. Hopefully an extension is done for him.
Opening day can’t come soon enough.
