Well, not really. The Reds lost on a wild pitch, a stinking wild pitch. I guess it could be worse, the closer could have beaned the last two batters to end the game like the Royals closer did.
No what irks me is the lack of offense that is being produced, and the terrible at bats the Reds are having. Drew Stubbs continues his quest for the K adding 3 more strikeouts today (one on 3 called strikes).
Scott Rolen finally had something positive in the 9th but is still hitting a staggering .143 on the season.
The Reds first two batters both went 0 for 5 with 3 strikeouts. That my friends is not getting it done.
Mat Latos followed up his stellar first outing with a 5 inning showing. You kind of hope for one of your top starters to get a little further into the game than the 5th, but the season is still young.
Now the Reds have to take 2 out of the next 3 against the Nationals. I still expect the Reds to do it, but this team has a feeling of being tight. There does not seem to be fire and the Reds need some fire. Maybe Phillips can return some of the fire to the team and also maybe a hit or two at the top of the lineup.
