So if you listen to the podcast (if you don’t what’s wrong with you) you know I both live about 2 ½ hours from Cincinnati, and decided this year to buy a 20 game package of tickets and lucky me (I mean that as you’ll see) had tickets to last night. On the drive down it was raining a little but nothing too bad but thanks to the miracle of smart phones I was looking at the map an knew it was going to get bad more than likely. We got there about a half hour before the game and walked around GABP (I love that place) and stopped by the authentics booth and picked up a ST used hat for $20 which was awesome and then got to our seats. If you watched the game you know it stopped in time for the game to start on time which after the drive made me very happy. Our tickets are out in right field and I think give you the best view of the field, if you go to a game this year think about the sun deck its awesome. One bad thing was for some reason my 3G wasn’t working at GABP so none of my tweets went through so I’m going to give you just a few of my thoughts from last night.
For the fans the rain wasn’t that bad, its water it’s not that big of a deal. I was impressed with how many people stayed, most of the time when it rains people bolt but it seemed like most stayed last night. For the players though that field was borderline unplayable and unsafe, I don’t know if they showed it on T.V. but BP was covering 1st on a play and almost ate it slipping on the base if he would have gotten more hurt those umps would have had a riot on their hands.
Votto dived for a foul ball that was on the edge of uncatchable and you could hear a stadium wide sigh of relief when he got up, I guess that’s what happens when you have a player making 250 million.
JJ Hoover looked good in his first appearance, and it already looks like we got the much better end of the Juan Francisco trade.
The seventh inning was about as good as it gets for Reds fans but for me it started not so happy, I had a few $8.50 beers (8.50 are you kidding me) and in the middle of the 7th I had to take care of something. In case you were wondering the most angry you will ever be is when the Reds haven’t scored in 6 innings and while you’re in the bathroom you hear everyone cheer and the fireworks go off. So I missed Rolen’s HR but got to see the reds take the lead in the 7th and hold it so that almost made up for it.
Champman is a beast we know this, and Marshall looks like maybe we didn’t need to sign Madson in the first place.
Reds get 3rd win in a row and get to .500 and look for the sweep this afternoon. This might be the earliest “turn-around” in baseball history.
