Other Notes from Monday’s Game
- Bronson Arroyo gave the Reds their 6th straight quality start by a starting pitcher. He pitched 6.2 innings and walked just one batter and wiffed the Brew Crew 9 times. The one walk issued by Arroyo was just the 4th issued by him all season
- In the 4th inning the Reds strung together 5 straight hits, all started by Zack Cozart’s solo shot to left, followed by a double by Drew Stubbs, Votto doubled, Phillips singled and Bruce came up and smacked an absolute rocket to right, it might still be flying. Great inning, 5 runs and that’s all she wrote.
- Reds bullpen continues to be lights out, extending their consecutive scoreless streak to 23 innings.
- Brandon Phillips got off the schnide tonight, hitting a few balls to the opposite field, something we recommended in episode 9 of the Redleg Weekly podcast!
- Miguel Cairo, fresh off his 0-10 stint at Class Low A Dayton, doubled in a run in the 9th inning in his first appearance since coming off the DL.
